Cowboy Action Shooting

Cowboy Action Shooting is the fastest growing shooting sport in the world.

CAS is a shooting sport that incorporates the skills of gun handling with the clothing and accoutrements of the old west. The emphasis is on fun, and the atmosphere more conducive to all levels of shooting prowess, from expert to beginner. This means CAS is the perfect sport for families! Three types of guns are used; single-action pistols, rifles, and shotguns. All guns must be period, or period style.Colt, Winchester, and Marlin make modern guns in the old style and, for those on a budget, other companies, such as Ruger, Uberti and Beretta produce exact replicas of the old Colts and Winchesters.

Dress and “spirit of the game” are important in CAS, so remember, no t-shirts or running shoes allowed! Period style clothing is mandatory, so don’t forget your cowboy boots and hat.

The Frontenac Rifle and Pistol Club Board of Directors has determined that the Club can accept 60 new members per year, to cover our normal membership attrition and allow for a manageable increase in membership.

Groups of about 20 new members will be invited to attend one of our introductory sessions, spread out during the year, according to their position on the waiting list. Normal sessions will occur around April, July and October.

The waiting list will be computerized and will close automatically at 120 applicants and re-open when the number of applicants falls below a certain threshold.
